Google just finished its Made by Google hardware event. They officially revealed the refreshed Pixel 9 lineup and updates to other devices. While many leaks were confirmed, Google had a few new announcements. Here’s a quick roundup of all the exciting news from the Pixel 9 event.

Google’s Pixel 9 Lineup Offers Another Pro Option

Pixel 9 Pro Fold Features Larger Screens and a Slimmer Design

Google unveiled the Pixel 9 Pro Fold alongside the three new standard Pixel devices. This updated Fold is taller and slimmer than its predecessor and features larger displays—6.3 inches on the outside and eight inches on the inside.

The G4 Tensor chip powers the device and boasts an inner display with a peak brightness of 2,700 nits, up from 1,450 nits on the original Pixel Fold. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is priced at $1,799 and begins shipping on September 4th.

Loaded with AI Features

Google’s new Pixel devices come with the Gemini AI assistant. You can use it to find information in your apps or ask questions about a photo you just took. The Pixel 9 lineup also includes two new AI apps: Pixel Screenshots, which uses on-device AI to search saved screenshots, and Pixel Studio, a text-to-image generator.

Google added AI image editing tools to complement the Pixel 9’s upgraded cameras. The “Add Me” feature allows you to insert someone into a group photo by stitching two scenes together. Magic Editor in Google Photos now uses generative AI to replace entire photo sections, like changing the sky.

Google Pixel Watch 3 Introduces a Larger 45mm Option

Google’s Pixel Watch 3 now comes in a larger 45mm size alongside the 41mm model. It features thinner bezels for more screen space, a new ultra-wideband chip, and a brighter display that reaches up to 2,000 nits. The watch also introduces several new fitness features.

A standout feature is its ability to detect if the wearer’s pulse stops. The watch can call emergency services if the wearer doesn’t respond to a prompt and no movement is detected. This feature will initially roll out in Europe. The 41mm Pixel Watch 3 costs $349.99 with Bluetooth, while the 45mm version costs $399.99. Both will be available on September 10th.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 Upgraded Inside and Out

Google’s Pixel Buds Pro 2 are now smaller and lighter, featuring 11-millimeter drivers and the new Tensor A1 chip designed to enhance active noise cancellation (ANC). The updated buds also come with a wing fin design for a secure fit during workouts.

It also offers up to eight hours of audio playback with ANC on (or up to 30 hours with the case). Priced at $229, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are slightly more expensive than the previous model, which launched at $200. They will start shipping on September 26th.
